Chop Saw in Prep
Process:
The process of operating the chop saw in prep.

Procedure:
- Only trained and safety signed off operators are allowed to operate saws.

Safety Sign off steps need to be followed daily.
- Inspect the blade, inspect the cables, ensure the miter lock is operating correctly, complete pre-inspection safety sheet for saw.
- If any issues are discovered, lock the saw out.

Make sure proper PPE is worn when using the saw.
- Ear protection and safety glasses.
- Make sure the area around the saw is clear and there is enough space to operate.
- Measure out the length of wood needed.

Make sure the wood is pressed up to the saw’s fence.
- Do not cut more than twelve 1X2” pieces of wood at a time.

Make sure hands, loose clothing, hair, or any other object is not in the path of the saw.
- Never pass hands under the saw guard.
- Activate the saw and commence its downward cut trajectory.

Once the wood is cut, discard any small piece of wood into the wood dumpster.
- Only discard pieces 5” and smaller.
- When you are done cutting for the day, or at the end of shift, clean the saw off.
