Cutting Patio Door Screens

Cutting Patio Screens
  1. Pull your paperwork and stickers for the day.
    1. Color, horizontal lengths, and vertical lengths separate the cut paperwork.
  2. All astragals for the day will be the first stickers in your run. Tear off all astragal stickers and give them to the astragal saw operator.
  3. Check the Patio Screen Cut Optimization chart for what length of material (160” or 192”) to cut.
  4. Load 2 lengths of patio screen material onto the saw to cut your verticals.
    1. One of the lengths loaded must be a line length.
      1. The line is needed to insert the weather stripping.
  5. Cut your verticals to length, punch them on both sides for screw holes, and slot them into the next open slot in the cart.
  6. Using the paperwork, continue cutting, punching, and slotting all same-sized vertical lengths.
  7. Load 2 lengths of patio screen material onto the saw to cut your horizontals.
  8. Cut your horizontals to length and punch them on both sides for screw holes.
    1. Punch both sides of the sill piece for rollers.
  9. Using the paperwork, continue cutting, punching, and slotting all same-sized horizontal lengths.
  10. Slot horizontal lengths in the correct slot corresponding to the vertical lengths.
  11. Place the barcode labels on one of the jambs right under the latch.
  12. Store all scrap material by size on the racks just east of the saw.
  13. When your cart is complete (it holds 20 screens), stage it next to the latch mill.
