Glass Remake Process

Glass Remake Process
Overview
            The process for ordering, cutting, and running remake IG units. 
Definitions:
Lose lite remake line cart: Lose lite remake carts at the head of IG lines.
IG remake cart: Remake carts at the end of IG lines that store completed IG units.
 
Procedure:
  1. Start creating a glass remake in AccuTerm
  2. Write the remake number and what time the remake was written up on the original label.
  3. Write what line will run the remake on the remake sticker.
    1. All lines are responsible for running their own remakes.
  4. Store the original label at your line.
  5. If the unit had a grid, a remake grid sticker will print out automatically.
    1. If the grid is undamaged and outside of the IG unit, place the remake grid sticker onto the grid and then store the grid on the lose lite remake line cart.
    2. If the grid is undamaged and inside the IG unit, place the remake grid sticker onto the bad unit and give the unit to the remake glass cutter to cut the grids out.
      1. Once the grid is cut out, place the grid remake sticker onto the grid and put it on the remake grid tree.
    3. If the grid is damaged, take the remake grid sticker to the grid area for a remake to be made.
  6. Hand the remake sticker to glass remake cutter.
    1. SS and DS lites will be taken to the northern remake location.
    2. 3/16”, ¼”, and temp lites will be taken to the southern remake location.
  7. For mixed lite remakes (DS with 3/16" or ¼”):
    1. The glass cutter will cut the first lite at the northern remake station.
    2. Place the remake sticker on the newly cut lite.
    3. Blackout the lite that was just cut on the remake sticker.
    4. Take the newly cut lite and remake sticker to the southern remake location.
  8. For Wildfire remakes:
    1. Print a duplicate remake sticker.
    2. Blackout the opposite lites on both stickers.
    3. Take the annealed sticker to the southern remake location.
    4. Take the tempered sticker to the tempered line remake board.
  9. Place the remake sticker onto the newly cut lites of glass.
    1. Place the glass in the correct designated IG line remake cart.
  10. IG line team leads are responsible for following their remakes to completion.
  11. Once both remake lites are at an IG line, the unit will be run, and then placed in the IG remake cart at the end of the line.
  12. Once remakes have been ran and placed in the IG remake carts, CGA is responsible for clearing the units.  

Remakes in Final and CGA
  1. Start creating a glass remake in AccuTerm
  2. Write the remake number and what time the remake was written up on the original label.
  3. Write what line will run the remake on the remake sticker.
  4. All remake IC units will be run on the IC3.
  5. All remake SUP units will be run on the Fixed Head.
  6. Take the original label to what line will run the remake.
  7. If the unit had a grid, a remake grid sticker will print out automatically.
  8. If the grid is undamaged and inside the IG unit, bring the unit and the remake grid sticker to the glass cutters to be cut out.
  9. If the grid is damaged, take the remake grid sticker to the grid area for a remake to be made.
  10. Inform the CGA team lead that remakes were written up and need to be followed to competition. 
Remakes in Delivery
  1. Start creating a glass remake in AccuTerm
  2. Write “DEL” what line will run the remake on the remake sticker.
    1. All remake IC units will be run on the IC3.
    2. All remake SUP units will be run on the Fixed Head.
  3. If the unit had a grid, a remake grid sticker will print out automatically.
    1. If the grid is undamaged and inside the IG unit, bring the unit and the remake grid sticker to the glass cutters to be cut out.
    2. If the grid is damaged, take the remake grid sticker to the grid area for a remake to be made.
  4. Inform the CGA team lead that remakes were written up and need to be followed to competition. 


Glass Re-cut Process
Overview
            The process for ordering, cutting, and running re-cut units
Definitions:
 
Procedure:
  1. Start creating a glass remake in AccuTerm
  2. In the reason section, select “Needs Sticker.”
  3. Blackout the lite, which you do not need on the remake sticker, and color stripe it.
    1. If both lites are needed, write “Both” on the remake sticker.
  4. Specify where the re-cut lite(s) needs to be taken and paired up.
  5. Write the remake number's time and last three digits onto the original label.
  6. If one of the lites is not broken, store that lite in the lose lite remake line cart.
  7. Take the remake sticker to a hand-cut station.
    1. For SS and DS units, take the remake sticker to the north remake station.
    2. For Temp, 3/16, and ¼ units, take the remake sticker to the south remake station.
    3. When both lites are needed and the lites are mixed (DS with 3/16”, ¼” or tempered):
      1. Take the remake sticker to the north remake station and then to the south remake station.
  8. Call your supervisor if the new lite(s) does not come in 30 minutes or less.
    1. IG line team leads are responsible for following their recuts to completion.
  9. When the re-cut remake is run, place the IG unit into the IG remake cart at the end of the line.
  10. Once recut units have been ran and placed in the IG remake carts, CGA is responsible for clearing the units.
