Blocking Casement Vents
Process:
The process for cross blocking casement vents.
Definitions:
Procedure:
  1. Place one block on each corner of the sill.
    1. The maximum distance between sill blocks is 36”. If the sill is longer than 36”, add additional blocks as needed.
  2. Check the barcode for the correct orientation of the casement. HL or HR.
  3. Cross block the casement by placing one block on the jamb, just up from the operator (on HL this will be on the left. On HR, this will be on the right), and another on the top of the opposite jamb.
  4. Place another block in the center of the right and left jamb.
  5. Check to see if the window is still bowing. If so, add additional blocks to the jambs as needed.
  6. When finished blocking, the jambs should measure the same on the top, middle, and bottom of the window.
  7. Place one final block on the center of the head of the sash.
