Capillary Tubes on the 7000/Fixed Head
Overview
How to properly install capillary tubes on the 7000 and Fixed Head lines
Definitions
Procedure
-
Use the lines capillary tube bending jig to properly bend the capillary tube.
- Do not attempt to bend a tube without the jig.
- Capillary tubes that are bent incorrectly can be ripped out by the sealer head, protrude too far into the IG unit, or not extended far enough into the unit.
- Lightly crimp the now bent capillary tube with your fingers.
- Insert the capillary tube into the break in the spacer.
- Verify the break in the spacer is oriented correctly (at the top of the IG unit).
- Tape the exterior portion of the capillary tube to the unit to the glass.
-
Visually check the inserted end of the capillary tube. Make sure nothing is clogging the end.
- If something is clogging the end, dislodge it before continuing.
- A clogged capillary tube cannot breathe and can cause the unit to fail when it attempts to equalize to its destination.
-
Remove the tape and run the capillary tube down the side of the IG unit.
- Be sure not to pull the capillary tube out during this process.
