Capillary Tubes on the Lisec Lines
Overview
How to properly install breather tubes on the Lisec Lines
Definitions
IG units: insulated glass unit
Procedure
-
Use the lines capillary tube bending jig to properly bend the capillary tube.
- Do not attempt to bend a tube without the jig.
- Capillary tubes that are bent incorrectly can be ripped out by the sealer head, protrude too far into the IG unit, or not extended far enough into the unit.
-
With a center punch tool, puncture the spacer at the top corner.
- Make sure no spacer is left hanging or sticks to the inside of the unit when puncturing it.
- Insert the capillary tube into the puncture in the spacer.
-
Visually check the inserted end of the capillary tube. Make sure nothing is clogging the end of the capillary tube and that it does not extend more than ¼” pass the spacer.
- If something is clogging the end, dislodge it before continuing.
- A clogged capillary tube cannot breathe and can cause the unit to fail when it attempts to pressurize to its destination.
- Tape the exterior portion of the capillary tube to the glass.
-
For patio units, remove the tape and run the capillary tube down the side of the IG unit.
- Be sure not to pull the capillary tube out during this process.
