Lisec Hot Melt Barrel Change
Process:
Overview of process
Definitions:
Any needed definitions
Procedure:
- When the hot melt in the barrel loaded onto the line drops below 25%, the barrel speed will slow as the machine fills its internal reservoir to 100%.
- Once the hot melt barrel is empty, the machine will sound an alarm and flash a blue light. The alarm on the computer screen will read “MATERIAL END.”
-
Confirm the “MATERIAL END” alarm on the computer screen, silencing the alarm.
- The line typically has 30 minutes' worth of hot melt remaining from the time of the alarm.
- With a red skinny fork pallet jack, retrieve and prepare a full hot melt barrel.
-
Remove the lid of the new hot melt barrel and grease the interior sides.
- Only a small amount of grease is needed.
- Lift the pump by pressing the up button on the power box.
-
Remove the empty barrel from the pump by unclamping the base clamps, pulling it down, and then pulling it out from the caged area.
- Ensure proper PPE (gloves, face shield, glasses, etc.) is worn during steps 7 - 12. The barrel will be extremely hot.
- With the empty barrel removed, quickly insert the new barrel into its place, re-clamp the base clamps, lower the hot plate, remove the drain plug, and hang it on the fence.
-
Bleed the air out of the new barrel every 5-10 minutes until only hot melt comes out of the drain port.
- Using a scrap piece of cardboard to collect the hot melt drainage.
- Reinstall the drain plug.
- Open the bleeding valve, and press the drum bleed button on the right side of the barrel.
- After all the air has been bled from the barrel, close the bleeding valve, and confirm the barrel change by pressing the confirm drum change button above the drum bleed button on the right side.
-
Ensure sufficient throat seal lubricant is in the bowl surrounding the piston pump.
- If there is less than ¼ worth of throat seal in the bowl, the bowl will need to be refilled to the ¾ mark.
- Confirm the “ENTER BATCH NUMBER, SEALING MATERIAL” alarm on the screen.
- On the computer screen, go to “BATCH OVERVIEW, " enter the serial number, and confirm it.
-
After confirming the serial number, the machine will continue to use the reservoir until it is empty.
- When it is empty, a “LEVEL MONITORING SYSTEM TRIGGERED” alarm will appear.
- Allow the reservoir to fill to 17% and at which point, the alarm will turn off.
