Mull Piping Test
Overview
The process for testing mull epoxy for the correct mixture.
Definitions
Procedure:
- Whenever you swap mixing tips, purge the epoxy gun for 5 seconds into a designated epoxy waste area.
- Pipe a 3” bead of epoxy onto a 6” scrap piece of nail fin.
- Sandwich a second 6” piece of scrap nail fin to the first piece.
- With a marker, write the current time on the nail fin piping test.
- Once the next mull unit you are working on with that same mixing tip is finished, clip the piping test to the frames nail fin near the barcode.
- Allow the piping test to cure with the frame in the curing rack for 2 hours.
-
Attempt to rip the piping test apart.
- The pipe test should be completely hardened and impossible to rip apart.
- If the epoxy has completely hardened, and you can’t rip the pipe test apart, the mull epoxy has mixed and cured correctly.
- If the epoxy has not completely hardened, and you can rip the pipe test apart, all mull windows mulled with that mixing tip need to be redone.
