Mull Glue Ratio Test
Overview:
Testing the hardener-to-activator ratio on the mull glue pump.
Definitions:
Procedure:
- Perform a glue ratio test at the beginning of each quarter.
- Hold two small cups up to the pump’s nozzle.
-
Fill one cup with the hardener and the other with the activator until both weigh over 20 grams.
- This should take around 5 seconds.
- Weigh the two cups.
-
If the cups weigh the same, the ratio of hardener to activator is correct.
- The cups cannot be off by more than 5%.
-
If the cups have more than a 5% difference, call over your lead or supervisor to adjust the PSI on the pumps.
- The hardener and activator have different thicknesses and will require different PSIs to flow equally.
-
Continue to adjust the PSI on the pumps until the glue ratio is correct.
- The correct ratio is 50/50 by weight.
