Numbers in Final
Process:
Calculating units per minute and percentages in Final.
Definitions:
MPU: Minutes per Unit
Procedure:

MPU Formula: This formula calculates Minutes per unit (MPU), a measure of productivity. It tells us how many minutes are needed to produce one unit of work (such as products manufactured or tasks completed).

Here’s the formula:
= Minutes Worked / Production Count

For example, if in 480 minutes, John completed 85 units of work, his MPU would be:
= 480 minutes / 85 units = 5.6 MPU

This means that every 5.6 minutes, John completes one unit of work.

Percentage Formula: This formula calculates the efficiency of the work done by comparing the actual MPU to a standard MPU, which is a benchmark or target rate of work.

Here’s the formula:
= Standard MPU / MPU

For example, if John’s MPU is 5.6 and the standard MPU for his job is 5, his efficiency percentage would be:
= 5.0 Standard MPU / 5.6 MPU  = 89%

This means John is working at 89% of the target work rate.

Weighted Percentage: This formula calculates the average efficiency across multiple tasks. It does this by multiplying the efficiency of each task by the time spent on that task, adding those together, and then dividing by the total time spent on all tasks.

Here’s the formula:
= ((Task A Percentage × Task A Minutes Worked) (Task B Percentage × Task B Minutes Worked)) / Total Minutes Worked

For example, John worked on two different tasks during the day: Task A and Task B.
Task A: Finalizing SH and SV windows on line #1.
John worked for 5 hours on this task.
The efficiency of his work was 95%.
Task B: Finalizing PW windows on line #2.
John worked for 3 hours on this task.
The efficiency of his work was 100%.

Weighted Percentage = ((95% × 300 minutes) (100% × 180 minutes)) / 480 minutes = 96.88%
So, John’s overall efficiency, considering the time spent on each task and the efficiency of each task, is 96.88%. This means that, on average, John was about 97% efficient in his work. This is a more accurate measure of his overall performance than simply averaging the two percentages because it takes into account how long he spent on each task.

SV, SH, and DV Windows: 5 MPU
PW Windows: 3.33 MPU
Sound Windows: 6 MPU
