Procedure
  1. Check with whoever is onloading to see if any of the following options are listed on the frame label: Color, BUL, PAK, or CONSOLIDATED.
    1. Color: The keeper and screws for the keeper, will match the inside color of the frame.
    2. For BUL frames, the keeper will be placed 12” on center, from the bottom of the window.
    3. For PAK, a PAK keeper will need to be installed.
    4. For CONSOLIDATED, SH mullions will get two keepers if the frame is 23.5” (mullion size of 22 3/8”) or wider.
  2. Pull the next mullion out of the mullion cart along with its accompanying track/springs/filler bars.
    1. Only pull one mullion at a time.
  3. Compare the length of the mullion with the length of the visual mullion line guide.
    1. If the mullion is for a SH frame and the frame is wider than 38” (mullion size of 36 7/8”), the mullion will get two keepers.
    2. If the mullion is for a SH CONSOLIDATED frame and the frame is 23.5” (mullion size of 22 3/8”) or wider, the mullion will get two keepers.
      1. A mullion for a SH frame can be identified by the little weep holes on the ends.
    3. The mullion for a SV frame will never get two keepers.
  4. Verify the rebar inside the mullion is not sliding out of either of the ends.
    1. The rebar should be placed about 1/16” in on each side of the mullion.
  5. Place the correct color and style of keeper into the mullion.
  6. Use the VS1 lock keeper jig to center the keeper correctly.
    1. The jig is only for CAM keepers. For PAK keepers, secure the keeper without a jig.
  7. Drill the two self-tapping screwing into the mullion, securing the keeper.
    1. Make sure to use the correct colored screws.
  8. Place the mullion and its accompanying track/springs/filler bars together in front of the prep belt.
    1. Be sure not to mix mullions up when stagging them in front of the prep belt.
    2. Do not build up more than 5 mullions at the staging area.
