Process:
How to properly tape all frame and sash material.
Definitions:
Wet Glaze: Is a method of sealing the IG unit to the vinyl with silicone. See “Wet Glaze” process for more information.
Procedure:
  1. Read the label to see if the window has any of the following options: DP-50, Secondary sound sash, or “WET GLAZE”.
    1. If the window has any of these options, use 3/32” X ¼” tape.
  2. If the window does not have any of these options, use 1/16” X 3/8” tape.
  3. Start taping at the top corner of the glazing leg.
  4. Following the glazing leg, tape around the perimeter of the vinyl unit.
    1. Keep the tape within 1/32” to flush with the edge.
    2. The tape must applied straight with no waves.
  5. At the corners, make a 45-degree fold.
    1. Do not stretch the tape on the corners.
  6. When you reach the beginning of the tape, cut the tape so it has a 1/8” overlap between the beginning and end.
  7. With cutters, peel the paper off a 2” section of the corner tape.
