Screen Fabric Process
Process:
Overview of process

Any needed definitions
Procedure:
- Working in sequence, pull the next cart of screen frames from the frame assembly area, select the proper roll of fabric not more than 2” taller than the frame, and secure it to the roll fixture using the bottom plate and pin.
- Inspect the screen frame for gaps in the corners, check that the two springs are installed on the opposite side of the pull tab corners, and the warning label is present and located on the face of the frame opposite the spline cavity, on the rail with the pull tabs no more than 6” from the edge of the frame.
- Place the screen frame on the table with the spline cavity facing up, and place hold-down blocks approx. 2” - 4” from the frame corner.
- Then, pull the fabric over the frame, overlapping the side of the frame by 2”, and flush with the bottom of the frame. Inspect the fabric for defects in the mesh. Any defective fabric shall be discarded.
- Line up the spline vertically over the spline cavity, starting in the upper left corner of the frame.
- Push the spline into the cavity with the roller and roll the spline in while working from the top to the bottom corner of the frame.
- At the bottom left corner, maintain the spline's roller pressure; with your other hand, fold the spline sharply around the corner while following with the roller.
- Continue the process around the frame, working counterclockwise until it is completely installed at the upper left corner.
- Using the grids on the screening table, ensure the screen is not bowing in the center.
- Using a utility knife, cut the spline. then carefully trim the excess fabric from the outside edge of the spline, using the cavity edge as a guide for the knife tip. Do not trim the inside of the spline; it will damage the fabric. Begin trimming from the upper left corner down, then across the bottom. From the same corner, trim across the top, then down.
-
Inspect the completed screen for defects.
- If defects are found, remove the spline and discard or re-use the fabric on a smaller frame.
- Place the completed screen back on the cart in the proper sequence.
- Once the cart is complete, put your initials in the area for fabric on both the small paper on top of the cart and the laminated page on the side of the cart. Move the cart to the bag staging area.
