Spacer Desiccant Test
Process:
The process for testing spacer desiccant.
Definitions:
Any needed definitions
Procedure:
  1. Place a humidity indicator card into a Quanex glass vial.
    1. Humidity Indicator cards are reusable.
    2. Desiccant 5
  2. Cut or notch approximately 3/16” spacer lengths to fill the vial.
    1. Do not remove the liner from the cut spacer.
    2. Desiccant 7
  3. Fill the glass vial to the top with spacer pieces and place the cap on securely.
    1. Use only fresh spacer pieces and place in vial immediately.
    2. Desiccant 1
  4. Check if the humidity indicator card changes to the blue color indicated on the card.
    1. If the humidity indicator changes to blue, the spacer is acceptable.
    2. The average test time is one hour.
    3. Desiccant 6
  5. If the humidity indicator card stays pink after one hour or only a partial change has occurred, the test should be repeated with a spacer obtained from the reel when two spacer layers have been unwound. If the result is still not satisfactory, the whole spool is bad.
