Bending Vinyl
Process:
How to bend vinyl in specials.

Procedure:
- Get the piece of frame material to be rolled from the rack just outside the bending area. The radius and invoice number will be written on the nail fin of the material.
- Verify the material by finding the corresponding invoice number on the paperwork. Note which color and type of bead will be needed.
- Using the air nozzle, blow off the material inside and out so that you don’t contaminate the glycerin tank.
- Cut the correct bead 4” to 5” longer than the frame material. Write the radius on the back of the bead.
- Place the frame outside facing up and nail fin away from you. Drill a 3/8” hole on the outside of the frame material 1” from the edge of the left side of the frame.
- Measure from the outside of the center post to the inside of the white plastic stop adding 3/8” to the radius. Tighten clamp on white plastic stop.
- Place the post of the pole into the center point on bending table. Run the white plastic stop along the perimeter of the inside form for the type of material you are bending. Tighten each clamp on the inside counterclockwise as you move next to them.
- Push the outside of the form tight against the inside form. Tighten the outside clamps as you move counterclockwise around the form.
- Insert the bead cavity form in between the frame forms.
- Place the bead into the hot glycerin for 10 to 15 seconds until soft. The bead should have the tab facing away from you.
- Pull the bead through the bead cavity on the form.
- After it sets up for a few seconds, spray the bead with cold water to cool it. It should stiffen up.
- Remove the bead from the form. Pull straight away from the forms.
- Remove the bead cavity form from in between the frame forms.
- Insert a screwdriver into the 3/8” hole you drilled into the frame material.
- Put the frame material into the hot glycerin with the nail fin facing away from you, and the drilled hole to your left. Leave the frame material submerged for 15 to 20 seconds.
- Raise the tray on the glycerin tank and insert the needed snakes for needed for the material.
- Once the snakes are inserted into the material, resubmerge the material for 10 to 15 seconds in the hot glycerin.
- Using the screw driver, quickly pull the material through the forms in a counterclockwise motion. If material is pulled too slowly, it will get stuck, and you will have to put it back in the glycerin.
- After a few seconds, spray cold water over the material. Remove the snakes and spray cold water through the interior of the material to cool it quickly. The material should set up but not be too stiff.
- Loosen the clamps on the outside form. Remove the material from the forms.
- Measure the diameter of the roll. It should be equal to two times the radius written on the nail fin. If the size is off a little bit, it should be soft enough to adjust at this point.
- If the size is correct, put the material into the water tub to soak.
