Blocking and Catching in Prep
Process:
The process of blocking and catching frames and sash in prep
Definitions:
Any needed definitions
Procedure:

Frame:
  1. Two dual durometer setting blocks are placed on the sill of all windows. A little silicone is used on the bottom of the setting blocks before placing them in the frame.
    1. Leaving a ¼” space from the side rails, place them to the outside of the cavity.
    2. If the spacing between the blocks exceeds 36”, an additional block is required with equal spacing between all the blocks.
    3. Ensure the setting blocks do not cover the weep holes on the bottom of the glass cavity.
    4. Ensure the correct durometer setting blocks are used for PW, SH, and SV.
  2. If the window height is 2’ or greater, a black self-adhesive setting block must be placed in the frame at the center of both sides of the glass cavity.
  3. If the window is 2’ or greater in width, a black self-adhesive setting block will be centered on the top of the glass cavity.
  4. 1/8” thick blocks will be used standard in the prep process. Alternately, 1/16’ thick pads will be made available to the finalizers to change out if the glass won’t fit properly with the 1/8” block.
    1. Unused 1/8” blocks will be returned to the prep line, and priority should be placed on processing them first.
  5. After blocking, pull one frame off the belt at a time and stage it in the correct sequence order.
    1. If a unit is missing, leave a gap in the rack it is stagged into.
Sash:
  1. Two dual durometer setting blocks are placed on the sill of all sashes. A little silicone is used on the bottom of the setting blocks before placing them on the sash.
  2. A black self-adhesive setting block is placed anywhere a lock is set.
  3. If the sash height is 2’ or greater, a black self-adhesive setting block must be placed in the sash at the center of both sides of the glass cavity.
  4. If the sash is 2’ or greater in width, a black self-adhesive setting block will be centered on the top of the glass cavity.
  5. 1/8” thick blocks will be used standard in the prep process. Alternately, 1/16’ thick pads will be made available to the finalizers to change out if the glass won’t fit properly with the 1/8” block.
    1. Unused 1/8” blocks will be returned to the prep line, and priority should be placed on processing them first.
  6. After blocking, pull one sash off the table at a time and stage it in the correct sequence order.
    1. If a unit is missing, leave a gap in the u-cart it is being staged into.
