SV Sound Sash Prep
Overview:
The process for prepping single vent sound sash.
Definitions:
- SV: Window that operates horizontally.
- SH: Window that operates vertically.
- Sash Cap: A part that attaches to the sash and catches the balance springs to support the vent in an SH window.
- Rollers: The wheels put into the bottom of an SV window to allow the vent to slide horizontally.
- Interlock: The sash rail that connects with the mullion.
- Cam Lock: A lock with a cam mechanism that is engaged with a lever.
- Pak Lock: A lock that engages automatically when closed all the way.
- Vent Left: The closed vent will be on the left from the outside.

Vent Right: The closed vent will be on the right from the outside.
Procedure:

Find all the three-sash needed for the final window.
- Secondary DL
- Secondary VT
- Primary VT
- Prep the sash in this order (Sec DL, Sec VT, Primary VT)

Check the sash label on the primary vent for the proper orientation of the unit.
- The Primary and Secondary VT will follow the orientation listed on the label.
- The secondary DL will be the opposite orientation of the two sash.
- Place a roller at the ends of the sash rails.
- Attach the rollers with a silver wood screw.
- Insert the latch into the predrilled latch cutout hole.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to help press the latch into the cutout.
- Install the sound latch spring between the rebar and the newly inserted latch.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to press the bottom of the spring into the latch cutout.

Place the latch cover over the latch and around the cutout hole.
- Verify the latch cover snaps into place all around the latch cutout hole.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to clear the weather strip out from under the latch cover.
- Use #4 X 3/8” pan head screws to secure the latch cover to the vinyl.
- Verify the latch is working properly by operating it 2-3 times.
- Tape the perimeter of the secondary DL with skinny ¼” glazing tape.

Block the sec DL with the skinny 1/2” white setting blocks.
- Do not use any black blocks when blocking the vinyl.
- Place a roller at the ends of the sash rails.
- Attach the rollers with a silver wood screw.
- Insert the latch into the predrilled latch cutout hole.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to help press the latch into the cutout.
- Install the sound latch spring between the rebar and the newly inserted latch.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to press the bottom of the spring into the latch cutout.

- Use #4 X 3/8” pan head screws to secure the latch cover to the vinyl.

- Tape the perimeter of the secondary DL with skinny ¼” glazing tape.

- Place a roller into the roller holes at the ends of the sash rails.
- Insert the latch into the predrilled latch cutout hole.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to help press the latch into the cutout.
- Install the sound latch spring between the rebar and the newly inserted latch.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to press the bottom of the spring into the latch cutout.

Place the latch cover over the latch and around the cutout hole.
- Verify the latch cover snaps into place all around the latch cutout hole.
- Use #4 X 3/8” pan head screws to secure the latch cover to the vinyl.
- Verify the latch is working properly by operating it 2-3 times.
- Tape the perimeter of the secondary DL with thicker 3/8” glazing tape.

Block the sec DL with 3/4” white setting blocks.
- Do not use any black blocks when blocking the vinyl.
