Procedure:
Nail Fin Sound Window
- Apply the correct ID label to the frame.

Install the tracks or spring clips and springs.
- SV frames will require 3 tracks.
- DV frames will require 3 tracks.
- SH frames will require 6 spring clips and 6 springs.

On each side of the mullion with 6 X 1 ½” gold wood screws, attach the mullion(s) and secure the equalite adapter to the frame.
- All SV and DV frames will require silicone applied to the wood screws.
- Apply the correct Gold Label to the frame.
- Tape and block the frame.

With 10 X ¾” button head screws and silver sleeves, attach the 3 sound lock keepers to the frame.
- DV frames will require 4 sound lock keepers.

With 6 X 1 ½” gold wood screws, attach a 2” X 4” and 2” X 1” piece of wood to the nail fin on the sill of the frame.
- Attach a screw 4” from each edge and every 12” in between.
- Apply the correct ID label to the frame.

Install the tracks or spring clips and springs.
- SV frames will require 3 tracks.
- DV frames will require 3 tracks.
- SH frames will require 6 spring clips and 6 springs.
- Insert a clear and black mullion bracket clip into the VS1 Mullion Bracket Jig.

Butt the VS1 Mullion bracket Jig up to the equalite adapter of the frame.
- Orient the jig so the lettering on it is legible.
- Use two 8 X 1” Pan Head screws to secure the mullion bracket clips to the frame.
- Repeat steps 2-4 on the other side of the frame.

Place the mullion over the two mullion bracket clips and roll the mullion into place.
- Verify no gaps have been created between the mullion and the equalite adapters.
- With the mullion inserted, measure the frame's center to ensure it is the correct width.

Check to see if there are any gaps between the mullion and frame.
- If there are gaps, use a large clamp to eliminate them.
- Attach the mullion to the mullion bracket clips with 8 X ¾” quick screws.
- Attach the mullion to the equalite adapters with 6 X 1 ½” gold wood screws.
- Once the mullion is fully attached, verify the overall appearance of the window.
- Apply the correct Gold Label to the frame.
- Tape and block the frame.

With 10 X ¾” button head screws and silver sleeves, attach the 3 sound lock keepers to the frame.
- DV frames will require 4 sound lock keepers.

With a 3/16” drill bit and the drill press on the line, predrill screw holes into a 2” X 6” piece of wood long enough to span the length of the frame’s sill.
- The drill press on the line is set up to drill the screw guide holes at an angle. This angle is needed not to puncture the frame with screws when attaching the wood to the sill.
- Drill guide holes 4” from each edge and every 12” in between.
- With 6 X 2 ½” gold wood screws attach the predrilled 2” X 6” piece of wood to the flush fin on the sill of the frame.
